Avocado Weekly Movie Thread (9/26)

Welcome to the Weekly Movie Thread, your place on the Avocado to discuss films with your fellow commenters. Want to make a recommendation? Looking for recommendations? Want to share your opinions of movies, both new and classic?

There’s a convenience to watching movies at home. You can lie down on your favorite couch. You can get snacks for cheaper. And, if you so desire, you can get some work done while periodically glancing up at the movie once in a while.

And yet, I would contend that there’s something special about going to a theater. It’s an excuse to get out of the house. It’s easier to pay attention to the action on the screen without distractions.

And sometimes it’s the theater itself. Maybe it’s a historic theater with decorations form the 1920’s. Maybe it’s got great smelling chocolate popcorn. Maybe they have a table in front of you, and you can order dinner.

There’s even a charm to even the typical neighborhood multiplex. My wife, for example, would rather not watch a movie unless it was playing at the Regal some towns away. That’s because in that multiplex, every theater is equipped with a reclining seat … her preferred way to watch a movie.

Today’s bonus prompt: do you have a favorite movie theater?
