30 Day SF & Fantasy Challenge Day 9: Your Favorite Swords & Sorcery Fantasy RPG

The month of April is going to be our focus on science fiction and fantasy as we move through the various realms of novels, film and TV, games, and more. We’re going to start off with a few baseline things though to get the discussion going with the big fields and then dig into some of the quirkier things.

Sticking with the world of swords and sworcery for today, we want to get into the world of gaming and we’ll do a bit of a split with this one. Today, we want to talk about the world of role-playing gaming and the classics with what you’ve enjoyed (or continue to enjoy) with the traditional pen and paper stuff going back to Dungeons & Dragons as well as the video game side. Do you prefer the single player experience or the big shared world stuff? All the graphics or the old school MUDs that were text-only on dial-up back in the 90s? Having DM’d for the Legends of Future Past service in the 90s, I’ve got a real affection for that and my pen and paper days always goes back to the first red style box set of D&D when you have those first classic modules, including the spaceship that the group discovers. But I’ll always have fond memories of that first keep module!

Bonus Question: Which one would you absolutely want to live in?
