Going into this question was tougher than I thought. Having grown up as a child/teen of the 80s and the heavy exposure to must-see-TV when it came to appointment television and sitcoms, there are so many that I like that rise to the top. And so many that I rewatch in various ways over the years. I fully admit that Modern Family is comfort TV for me since as dramatic as it gets at times it never really puts the cast into truly bad places, making it something that helped me through a couple of bad breakups in that regard. One of the earliest sitcoms that showed me just how radical the format could be was with Soap, which in syndication was eye-opening at that young age. And I have fond memories of shows like Benson and Silver Spoons while later in life enjoying oddities such as Evening Shade.
But it’s the big ones that stick out for me. Scrubs was a close contender but as I get older I cringe from medical shows, especially with how casually life and death gets treated in at times. How I Met Your Mother would at one time have been the IT show for me if the final episode hadn’t made me never want to watch it ever again, as well as changing views on relationship dynamics. I have a love of Brooklyn 99 and do a lot of repeat viewing there but I’m cautiously excited for their upcoming changes.
It really takes me back to some of the big long-running shows that I’ve enjoyed the most over the years, such as Cheers and Friends and New Girl. But in the end, Big Bang Theory is the one I’ve probably revisited the most, quote the most, and have the most fondness for as a cast of characters that really grew and changed across its run during a time when so many things socially were changing. It was the consistently there for me group of friends that I enjoyed spending the time with most.

Bonus Question: What’s the worst sitcom you’ve watched, either stuck with for way too long or noped the heck out after one episode?
