All Things Cricket: February 18th

  • The Women’s T20 World Cup starts Friday in Sydney. Australia and India kick it off at 3 am ET.
  • In a cricket-centric remake of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road,” England chased down South Africa’s 222 at Centurion with five balls to spare.
  • New Zealand completed a 3-0 ODI series whitewash over India with a rather easy win at Mount Maunganui. Granted, Rohit Sharma didn’t play in any of those games, but it was still a nice accomplishment for the Blackcaps.
  • The Pakistan Super League kicks off on Thursday, with USA fast bowler Ali Khan suiting up for Karachi Kings.
  • The Windies are in Colombo to start a series with Sri Lanka on Friday. Three ODIs and two T20Is are on the schedule.
  • The ICC wants to make the Member nations play two World-Cup-length Champions Cup tournaments in 2025 and 2029, freezing out the Associates (again) and also adding games to an already busy Test and T20 schedule. It’s going over about as well as you would expect, but will probably happen because money.
  • What else?
