On February 14th 1984, at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics, British Ice Dancers Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean skated to near perfection in the Ice Dancing Pairs Fee Skate. The routine was set to Ravel’s “Bolero”, and was choreographed by themselves; something that was rare back then, and is unheard of today. The pair received twelve perfect 6.0s and six 5.9s, including all perfect 6.0s for Artistic Merit, for the highest score for a single routine. A feat that has never been matched, and never will since Figure Skating has adopted a different scoring system. It is one widely considered one of the greatest performances in Figure Skating and Olympic history
