All Things Cricket: February 4th

  • Mankad at the U19 World Cup (pictured above)! Noor Ahmed of Afghanistan gets Mohammad Huraira of Pakistan as he wanders out of his crease. Twitter had the usual meltdown.
  • Speaking of which, India has just secured a victory over Pakistan in an U19 World Cup semifinal today. Maybe these guys will get to play Tests against each other. We can always hope.
  • BBL09 is now done with the Burninator, the Skeletor, and the Kick-save and are moving on to the Chalamet and the Final Fantasy (possibly not the correct names for these games). In any event, Melbourne Stars will play Sydney Thunder on Thursday for the right to play Sydney Sixers on Saturday for the title.
  • South Africa is bowling to England at Newlands in an ODI. England are at 229/7 in the first innings.
  • Some good games at the Women’s T20 Tri-Series with Australia, England and India, a warmup series for the Women’s T20 World Cup starting later this month. India beat England with three balls remaining, England won a super over over Australia, and Australia beat India with seven balls remaining. Ellyse Perry took four wickets and was high scorer with 49 runs.
  • And much more…
