The Royal Rumble Match in 2001 was notable for a lot of reasons: beloved comedian and future Price is Right host Drew Carey was an entrant in the match and would face off against Kane. Drew Carey would eliminate himself to keep safe from the Big Red Monster.
Speaking of Kane, he would have a dominant performance eliminating a record 11 Superstars from the match. It was a record that stood the test of time for many years. Roman Reigns would eventually break Kane’s record of most eliminations in a Royal Rumble with 12 in 2014.
Finally, Stone Cold Steve Austin would win the Rumble Match. He holds the record for the most Royal Rumble matches won with 3. Austin would main event WrestleMania X-7 and face off against The Rock for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship.
