All Things Cricket: January 21st

  • In the U19 World Cup opening game that mirrored the 2019 Cricket World Cup Game I attended in Wales, Afghanistan flipped the result by beating South Africa by 7 wickets in only 25 overs. India, West Indies, Bangladesh and Afghanistan lead their respective groups after 11 matches.
  • India beat Australia by 7 wickets in the third ODI to take the series. India will visit New Zealand starting Friday for 5 T20I’s, 3 ODI’s and 2 Test matches.
  • England enforced the follow-on against South Africa in Port Elizabeth and won by an innings and 53 runs to take a 2-1 lead in their Test series. The 4th and final Test will start in Johannesburg on Friday.
  • West Indies came back to win the final T20 over Ireland to even that series 1-1 with one no result.
  • The BBL is steaming toward the playoffs. Melbourne Stars top the table with 10 wins.
  • Pakistan will host Bangladesh starting Friday  for 3 T20I’s, 2 Test matches and an ODI in a trip that is being closely monitored for security as you might expect.
