This marks our first Weekly Music Thread since the untimely passing of Neil Peart. One of the greatest drummers of all time, the music he made with band mates Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson in Rush for over four decades meant a lot to a lot of people around the world and at this site as well, as evidenced by the multitude of thoughtful comments made as news spread of his passing, both in the open thread and this dedicated thread devoted exclusively to discussing Neil Peart and his music.

Which leads to this week’s discussion topic: The Drummer

Who are some of your all-time favorite drummers? What are some of your all-time favorite drum parts? Are there any drummers that you feel deserve more recognition or respect? Let us know! And while we very recently had a thread devoted exclusively to Neil Peart, by all means if you feeling like posting about his drumming or your favorite Rush moments, please don’t hesitate!

(Couldn’t get the time-stamp to work; Letterman introduces Peart around the 2:40 mark and the performance starts shortly after)

As always, any and all music-related topics are welcome. Have fun, and rock out with yr guac out!
