Look…. as an American I really don’t want to acknowledge to the rest of you what a shitshow this week has been. USA! USA! USA!

Australia is on fire, never great, and any other weekend that would be the top news, so of course we did something to make it all about us again. But did we mean to do that? Does anyone in our country actually have a plan or know what’s going on? WHO KNOWS?

Now, I will be open with you all- my goal is to make the weekend PT as non-American-centric as possible. But I feel us interfering with foreign countries by assassinating people sort of crosses over into everybody’s business territory? Also can I say I hope a different country calls us out on our shit or is that technically considered treason? This is new slightly scary territory.

But there’s room for hope (I hope). In 2003 there were mass protests and an anti-war movement, and that was before we had twitter and the zoomers on tik tok trying to solve climate change. We have never had more ability to speak loudly and as one against escalating the current situation. I know we should have already had our 2020 resolutions by now, but mine is to not just follow the news but affect it. I’m going to talk to my congresspeople this year (my personal goal is to become so annoying to my Republican rep I am recognized by name) and make sure that whatever happens I did everything I could to push for real, positive change.
