On January 4th at 5pm in Japan – or 3am Eastern and therefore bang-on for this thread –  New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest show of the year begins. Hosted in the Tokyo Dome, the greatest pro-wrestling event of the year will for the first time run over two nights. It’s going to be a happening!

On the first night Kazuchika Okada will defend the IWGP Heavyweight championship against the G1 Climax tournament winner Kota Ibushi, and Tetsuya Naito challenges Jay White for the Intercontiental championship. The winners of each match will then face each other in the main event of night two to become the first man to hold both titles.

The weekend will also see the retirement match of legendary masked wrestler Jushin Thunder Liger, after a career spanning over three decades.
