For generations movies were mostly centered around male heroes.  It may have been because it was men that ran the studios producing these movies or the studios believed female heroines couldn’t fill theater seats.

Whether they’re upsetting the established order or taking revenge against those that have done them wrong women have a long history in movies of kicking ass.

Any and all women are eligible for nominations. They can be fictional or real life heroines depicted in their own biopic.
