This is an extremely well thought out Day Thread that was not hastily assembled while in a meeting.

Possibly my favorite dungeon of all time is the Dead Sea from Chrono Cross. The vision of an apocalypse frozen in the middle, buildings mashed together, eerie robots and ghosts tracing the paths they would have followed in better days — all of it is so haunting and memorable.

Like a lot of things in Chrono Cross, it doesn’t really make logical sense. Instead, it makes emotional sense, like a half-remembered dream. And the culmination is the top of the tower where you come across the frozen ruins of Leene’s Square in Chrono Trigger, and the bell that signifies peace. Here, the gorgeous music, usually translated as “People Trapped by Fate,” underscores the tragedy of a future that could have been but will never come to pass.
