Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Dec. 4

Let’s meet today’s contestants:

– Jennifer, a wine-tasting consultant from Michigan, has goats to clean up the yard ;
– Davita, a retired court clerk from Oregon, flew hot air balloons in Las Vegas; and
– Stephanie, a social studies teacher from Colorado, knows the kids today can’t get enough of serial killers. Stephanie is a one-day champ with winnings of $12,399.

This was a Secretariat-style rout, as Jennifer very impressively drew off to lead into FJ with $35,200 vs. $6,000 for Davita and $4,400 for Stephanie.

DD1, $800 – BENGAL – This capital of the state of West Bengal is spelled with 2 Ks; it used to be spelled using 2 Cs (Jennifer won $2,000 from her leading score of $10,000.)

DD2, $1,600 – HISTORIC NAMES – In 1609 he published “New Astronomy”, containing his first 2 laws of planetary motion (Jennifer added $3,000 to her total of $11,400.)

DD3, $800 – LITERARY PASSINGS – This nemesis perishes when he plunges off Switzerland’s Reichenbach Falls with the hero (Jennifer picked up $4,000 from her score of $16,800.)

FJ – OPERA TITLE NAMES – Before being consumed in flames, he flirts with a bride on her wedding day & a list of his amorous conquests is sung

Fittingly, Jennifer was the only player to be correct on FJ, adding $10,000 to win with $45,200.

Triple Stumper of the day: The players couldn’t nail down the first part of the Meat Loaf title “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)”.

This day in Trebekistan: Alex continued his newfound obsession with clearing both boards. So I guess that means the end of long-winded sponsored categories that cause leftovers? I didn’t think so.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – What is Kolkata?
DD2 – Who was Kepler?
DD3 – Who was Professor Moriarty?
FJ – Who is Don Giovanni (Don Juan)?
