All Things Cricket: December 3rd

Welcome to the first installment of All Things Cricket! In this topic, we’ll discuss anything you want on the topic of…cricket, naturally. Test matches, ODIs, T20s, The Hundred, Members and Associates, governance, TV deals, competitions, whatever you want. All cricket discussions are welcome.

I’m an American living near Houston who picked up the sport about 10 years ago by watching The Ashes after learning about it from The Bugle Podcast. I’ve been a huge fan ever since, and I watch almost every major competition, including participating in fantasy leagues. I also volunteer with a local youth cricket academy.

This week, New Zealand and England wrapped up a two-Test Series with a disappointing draw in The Tron that still had some interesting moments, including a Joe Root double century, centuries by Rory Burns and Tom Latham, a five-fer from Neil Wagner, and perhaps the worst dropped catch ever by Joe Denly. New Zealand moves on to a Test series with Australia, including the beloved Boxing Day Test, and England goes to South Africa, whose governing body is in turmoil after an attempt to bar journalists failed and one of the Board resigned.

All of that and more is good fodder for discussion. My own national team, the USA, plays a tri-series in UAE starting on 12/8. The WBBL semifinals and finals are this week, and the BBL fires up on 12/17. Let’s talk about it!
