The Weekly Music Thread Goes to a Midnight Sale

Let’s discuss any and all music here. Got a new artist who’s rocking your boat that you want to talk about? Post a video! Found out about that unearthed Coltrane album that has the jazz freak in you losing your mind? Lay it out for us! Have a theory about what your favorite band might do for their next album? Let’s hear it! Anything and everything music-related goes here.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: On Thursday December 12, the discussion prompt for the Weekly Music Thread will “Favorite Albums and Songs of the Decade”. For anyone who’s interested in participating,  hopefully this will give you ample time to prepare your lists of favorite albums and songs from this decade, and have them ready to go! I’ll be posting reminders in the weeks leading up to the big day, and will also be posting in the open thread to both spread the word and to (hopefully) prevent someone else from posting a separate thread devoted to this exact same topic.

This week’s discussion prompt (suggested by the Avocado’s very own Pastyjournalist):

tower 2019

Tower Records Japan is still open for business in 2019, with numerous locations still in operation across the country. The flagship store in Shibuya (pictured above) is nine stories (ten including the basement performance venue).

Even if you’ve never been to a midnight sale at a record store before, feel free to use this space to wax nostalgic about some of your favorite record stores, both those that are no longer with us and those that are still around. And even if you’ve never been to a record store before, as always any and all music-related topics are welcome.

Wish I could remember which one of the glorious musicados among you posted this song a while back. So much fun – and I wholeheartedly approve of the songwriter’s method of collecting physical media.

So have at it, and have fun. Rock out with yr guac out!
