Welcome to the Book Nook! This is the weekly thread for Avocados to discuss books we’re currently reading, recommendations, genre, and serious literary criticism.
This week’s recommended discussion: We’ve been discussing our Halloween reads all month, but here’s one last week to talk up new books, favorites, etc. I recently came home with a clutch of local history books, including one on regional legends and hauntings – which I would’ve passed right by if it wasn’t spooky season.
Settle into your favorite chair, and let’s celebrate the written word.
One caveat: because we’re here to use our words, this is a NO GIF/YouTube/social media embed zone. The OTs are full of clutter, and I want to keep that out of this thread. Pictures of books related to a post are fine, though.
upcoming topics:
11/6: notable opening lines (h/t to Colonel Mustard)
11/13: biographies of fictional people (h/t to The Lancashire Crab)
11/20: introductions
11/27: feasts (books that are feasts, OR literal feasts in books)
12/4: opinions against the tide
Book Nook posts every Wednesday at 8:15 AM Eastern.
