The Canadian-American science-fiction series Travelers debuted on this day in 2016.
Hundreds of years from now, the last surviving humans discover the means of sending consciousness back through time, directly into people in the 21st century. It focuses on a team of five time ‘travelers’ from the future, coming back to change history and avert the apocalyptic timeline in which they live, whilst assuming the lives of the people they have replaced, and following the Protocols dictated by the ‘Director’:
I think it’s one of the most intelligent and thoughtful sci-fi shows of the past several years, with an ever-expanding mythology and season-long arcs dealing with the ramifications of altering the traveler’s past – and our future.
It was cancelled after three seasons, but still reached a satisfying conclusion, so don’t be put off by the fear that it ended without a resolution.
Have a great day, everyone. And:
Welcome to the 21st.
