From the radioactive monsters of the 1950s and 1960s to the Legion of Monsters in the 1970s to Swamp Thing in the 1980s and the arrival of Doomsday in the 1990s, there have been many monsters and other creatures that have tried to attack Earth or have faced superheroes head on in one on one grudge matches.
