Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Oct. 1

Please welcome today’s contestants:

– Kevin, a university administrator from New York, whose son didn’t say “da-da” first despite his coaching;
– Abby, a study abroad adviser from North Carolina, has a bilingual cat; and
– Laurel, a graduate student from Florida, knows you can’t get bad food in Italy. Laurel is a two-day champ with winnings of $64,002.

Kevin had $10K after round one, scored on all three DDs and had an easy runaway at $26,000 vs. $8,600 for champ Laurel and $5,000 for Abby.

DD1, $1,000 – CODE NAMES – Referring to a geographical location in the state she governed, “Denali” was code for her (Kevin won $2,800 on a true DD.)

DD2, $1,600 – IND-ICC-TED! – Ousted as this country’s president in April 2019, Omar al-Bashir is charged with crimes in Darfur (Kevin won $3,000 from his leading total of $17,200.)

DD3, $1,600 – THE INSECT WORLD – This bee named for its habit of tunneling into wood looks like a big, less hairy bumblebee (Kevin won $1,000 from his score of $23,400.)

FJ – MOUNTAIN RANGES – A chain of volcanoes is named for this mountain range where the continental USA’s deadliest eruption took place

Only Abby was correct on FJ, as Kevin dropped $3,000 to win with $23,000.

Western woes: In the category “Chip and Dale”, no one knew the “Queen of the West” partner of Roy Rogers was Dale Evans. Later, the players were stumped on the famed Western director of “She Wore a Yellow Ribbon”, John Ford.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – Who is Palin?
DD2 – What is Sudan?
DD3 – What is a carpenter bee?
FJ – What are the Cascades?
