Job Rants Thread – 9/20/2019 – …I’m Off A Boat.

Hey, all…

<sigh>

Anyway…

Back on the horse, back in the saddle; back at my desk, listening to ’em prattle. Truth be told, while I would of course much rather still be on vacation, there’s something to be said for the simple comforts of sleeping in one’s own bed. One’s own office, on the other hand…

Actually, I can’t complain too much. I gave The Powers That Be ample notice of my absence, and thus were they kind enough to help finish off whatever small remainders of work I had left or field any calls that came in in the interim. Technically, it was more-or-less a clean slate for me; albeit one that became duly more filthy as the week progressed. But, such is one of the great fringe benefits of working for an in-demand public service.

Which leads us into our subtropic–er, sub-topic this week: When coming back from a vacation (assuming, of course, you take them) do you find that it’s easy to slide back in to the swing of things? Do your co-workers help, hinder, and/or demand souvenirs? (For me, it was 1 and 3) Most importantly, do you come back from a break feeling actually better than when you left? Personally, I can say that I definitely did…For about three hours, after clocking in; but that’s something, right?

Feel free to discuss that; and of course, anything else that’s been bugging you this week. As ever, have a productive rest of the day, safe trip home, and a great weekend. And remember: If you don’t feel like working, I’ve got slides; don’t make me bring them out.
