The Tiniest Cat Night Thread

I just saw a notice that we needed a night thread so with little time to plan, I just figured I’d bombard y’all with some cuteness that I didn’t even know existed 24 hours ago.  Meet the rusty spotted cat.  These adorable agile floof balls can be found in Sri Lanka and India, so plan your vacations accordingly.

Now calling it the tiniest cat is a bit of a misnomer, because its size it rivaled by the black-footed cat, these lil nuggets of adorableness average  14 to 19 inches in length, with a 5.9 to 11.8 inch tail, and weigh only 2 to 3.5 pounds.  That means I have plenty of space in my house for a least a bakers dozen of them.  Unfortunately their diet consists of birds, rodents, lizards, and frogs and I don’t think the amphibious friends I have naturally in my back yard would appreciate their addition.

While that sweet little face would make me reconsider, they are listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN Red List so trade (and presumably wild capture of them) is prohibited.  That’s ok though, cause I would never take this sweetie away from its home.

In case that wasn’t enough cuteness for you. here’s a video on youtube that’s not nearly long enough for its subject matter.
