Sports Corner – August 14, 2019

Attend the tale of Antonio Brown’s helmet.  If nothing else, it’s certainly enlivened the pre-season.  Even if I can’t say it makes much sense that a player wants to use worn-out equipment to protect his noggin. Or that anyone would threaten to retire over that.  But sometimes football is weird.

Elsewhere…

  • Monday marked 25 years since the 1994-95 baseball strike.  Craig Calcaterra has a great overview of baseball’s labor history.
  • Simone Biles up her game, again.
  • Hey, there is a pennant race for real in the AL Central, and the NL Wild Card scrum is pretty fun too.
  • Slow play is suddenly a real concern in the PGA

As ever, all sports topics welcome!
