Welcome to this week’s History Thread! Today is the anniversary of (among other things) George Custer’s defeat by the Sioux and Cheyenne at the Battle of the Little Bighorn, a classic case of tactical ineptitude that became celebrated, for many years, as a noble, heroic sacrifice. To celebrate, we can discuss famous failures, whether military defeats, failed political campaigns or social movements, doomed art and architecture projects or however you wish to interpret the prompt, many of which are far better-remembered (and more celebrated) than straightforward successes. Because humans are weird.
