Millennial Malaise: An Announcement!

In Which I Finally Make Some Sort of Schedule.

Hello! If you were expecting a regular article this week I’m sorry to disappoint you. My life got consumed in sudden business, but I should be back on track shortly. However, I’ll use this momentary break to announce my plans for the next couple of months. As we all know this year has been riddled with important movie anniversaries, and I have decided to take advantage of this SEO and cultural relevance opportunity by launching a little miniseries within the broader context of these articles.

Yes this summer I’ll cover a slate of films celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. It’ll provide a chance for us nerds to grouse about our experiences with these movies and look at the cultural hinge point between one millennia and the next. So join me as dig deep into some of the hits from 1999.

The first grouping will cover what I call office angst, and focus on films that tweak or interrogate the ennui that was associated with middle class living. Next will be a grab bag of features that still tap into the general themes of the time. I hope you enjoy the show.

The Schedule:

Office Space (June 6th)

Fight Club (June 13th)

Being John Malkovich (June 20th)

American Beauty (June 27th)

Election (July 4)

Three Kings (July 11)

Existenz (July 18)

Dogma (July 25)

Plan your screenings accordingly.
