I like big beasts and I cannot lie! And I suspect you do too.
With the new Godzilla movie coming out this week, it’s time to tell the Avocado: what is your favorite movie featuring a giant monster?
Is it the original resident of Skull Island that transformed movie making and special effects forever? Is it the giant moth that has two tiny pixie friends that sing? Is it a dead lobster that floats around in the sky bedeviling teenagers who may or may not be from outer space? Or is it the weird metaphor for a failed romantic relationship?
Godzilla, the American Godzilla, King Kong, Gamera, the monster from Colossal, Gorgo, Reptilicus, Yongary, the Cloverfield monster… heck, the giant alien at the end of Independence Day: Resurgence… and every country’s monster welcome!
My current favorite kaiju movie is one that I already reviewed for this site, Hideki Anno’s Shin Godzilla. It’s a movie that remembers what makes Godzilla great, while updating the metaphor about how history point again and again how nature points out the folly of man.
Also discuss any other movie you’ve seen lately!
