The nominations are in and there have been some early heartbreaks.  Bands just outside the top 32: The Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, and Artic Monkeys.

The Top 5 presented some surprises.  Led Zeppelin, an early frontrunner, failed to make the top 5, coming in at 7.  And to think, I was considering disqualifying them from competition along with the Beatles and Stones.

The number 1 seed:  Queen.  The number 32 seed: Yes.  The closest we’re probably going to get to a Blur/Oasis showdown is our 15th match where Oasis squares off against Gorillaz.

Voting will be open for 24 hours.  The top 16 bands will continue on to Round 2.  In the event of a tie I will make the tie-breaking vote.
