Let’s discuss any and all music here. You’ve got a new artist who’s rocking your boat that you want to talk about? Post a video! Found out about that unearthed Coltrane album that has the jazz freak in you losing your mind? Lay it out for us! Do you have a theory about what your favorite band might do for their next album? Let’s hear it! Anything and everything music-related goes here.
Last weekend someone posted a video in one of the open threads which combines Ghost’s transcendent cover version of “Here Comes the Sun” with clips from the Kenneth Anger short film Lucifer Rising, and I must say the two things complement each other quite well.
(BE WARNED that this video contains a few brief shots of…BARE breasts *gasps, drops monocle* and therefore may not be suitable for work, i.e. NSFW for some)
Which leads to this week’s discussion prompt: What “unofficial” music-related stuff do you enjoy or consider to be good? In cases where an official version also exists, do you consider the unofficial version to be just as good (or maybe even better) than the original?
And we don’t need to limit this to fan-made music videos either (though there are certainly plenty to choose from). Let’s open up the discussion to bootlegs, demos, album reconstructions, unlicensed merchandise, dioramas, papier-mâché floats or whatever else you can think of that was not 100% created by the band or the label (but which you have still enjoyed or appreciate for certain reasons).
(This jacket is the real deal, apparently – officially available via Anger’s site in a limited edition of 333 for a mere $666.00. Not sure if I could pull it off – and I can’t really afford it, at any rate – but I’m sure someone here would look pretty fly rocking it.)
Of course, any and all music-related posts are welcome. So have fun and as always, rock out with yr guac out!
