Jeopardy! recap for Thur., May 2 – Today’s contestants are:
– Josh, a music director from Washington state, whose “milkfat Fridays” feature weird ice creams;
– Jessica, a bookkeeper from Indiana, whose godfather was long-time Chicago Bear Revie Sorey; and
– James, a professional sports gambler from Nevada, got married (maybe) in front of a loud waterfall. James is a 20-day champ with winnings of $1,528,012.
It looked like we might have a game on our hands when Josh ran the “B.B.” category and James started sluggishly. Then after the first break, James assumed control, scoring on all three DDs and running a DJ spelling category to lead into FJ with $51,212 vs. $10,200 for Josh and $1,400 for Jessica.
DD1, $600 – NONFICTION – Mark Kurlansky wrote a whole book on this, “The Only Rock We Eat” (James went all-in for $6,800 and was correct.)
DD2, $2,000 – SCI-FI TECH – In “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, sticking a babel fish in your ear will do this (James won $9,812 for his wife from his total of $25,600.)
DD3, $1,600 – TORY SPELLING – This 19th century Tory was nicknamed dizzy (James won $7,000 from his score of $37,012.)
FJ – AMERICAN PLAYS – A character in this 1944 play is said to be like a piece in her own collection, “too exquisitely fragile to move from the shelf”
James and Josh were correct on FJ, with James adding $29,403 to win with $80,615 for a 21-day total of $1,608,627. James has now passed Julia Collins and has the second-longest championship run in the show’s history.
That’s after our time: In the “For” A Song category, no one knew the Taylor Swift hit from the “Fifty Shades Darker” soundtrack nominated for a Radio Disney Music Award, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”.
This day in Jamestown: It’s still not Paris-to-Dakar.
Correct Qs:
DD1 – What is salt?
DD2 – What is translate?
DD3 – Who was D-I-S-R-A-E-L-I?
FJ – What is “The Glass Menagerie”?
