The spring anime season is now upon us, and more so than past seasons, it looks to be chock-full of sequels and remakes, like Bungo Stray Dogs 3.a(featured in the header image), Attack on Titan 3 Part 2, and a new Fruits Basket anime. But there’s also some new stuff, including some original properties. Here’s what I’m planning on checking out:
- Carole & Tuesday. This is the new series from Shinichirō Watanabe, whom you may know from classics such as Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo. Watanabe has worked in a wide range of genres, so I trust him to blend sci-fi, character drama, and musicals into something coherent. Plus, I’m always a sucker for stories that take on consumerism and automation.
- Fairy Gone. Dark fantasy series that try to explore the horrors and consequences of war can be either really good or really trashy. Here’s hoping for the former, but I haven’t watched a fun train wreck in a while, so the latter might not be so bad!
- RobiHachi. A comedic sci-fi adventure with a rabbit robot (robit?) Sign me up!
- Shōmetsu Toshi. I’m not familiar with the source material, so I don’t know if the story is worth following until the end, but the premise of a young woman going on a journey to find out what destroyed her city is promising, even if there are shades of the competent yet pedestrian A.I.C.O. -Incarnation-. (There was probably a less pretentious way of saying that.)
