Jeopardy! recap for Tue., Apr. 2 – Please welcome today’s contestants:
– Anika, an operations manager from Massachusetts, does triathlons;
– Erich, a musician-grad student from New York, was “Mr. Jeopardy!” in seventh grade; and
– Steven, a sports industry consultant from Georgia, hosts an annual Oscars party with movie-themed dishes. Steven is a four-day champ with winnings of $88,300.
Steven and Anika sparred during round one, then Steven assumed clear command with a strong performance in a DJ Bible category. But a miss on DD3 slowed Steven’s momentum and Erich finished strongly to make it a three-way contest into FJ with Steven at $16,800, Anika with $13,600 and Erich at $9,600.
DD1, $1,000 – BESTSELLERS – This memoir recounts what Elizabeth Gilbert did in Italy, India and Indonesia, respectively (Anika won $1,000, leaving an additional $2,200 on the table by not going all-in for $3,200, which would have been the right move against an obviously strong champion.)
DD2, $1,200 – BIBLE PASSAGES – Saul is on the road to this city when a heavenly light knocks him off his feet (Steven won $3,000)
DD3, $1,600 – “MI” – 6-letter cloud of unpleasant vapor (Steven lost $3,600)
FJ – MUSIC LEGENDS – These 2 “monarchs” of popular culture both passed away on August 16, one in 2018, the other 41 years earlier
Steven was the only player correct on FJ and earned his way into the next Tournament of Champions, adding $10,401 to win with $27,201 for a five-day total of $115,501.
That’s before our time: No one knew TV’s “Bionic Woman” is Lindsay Wagner, or recalled the board game with the “Pop-O-Matic” die container, Trouble.
DD1 – What is “Eat, Pray, Love”?
DD2 – What is Damascus?
DD3 – What is miasma?
FJ – Who were Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley?
