Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Apr. 1

Jeopardy! recap for Mon., Apr. 1 – Here are today’s contestants:

– Reid, a public policy director from Washington, D.C., interned with the British Parliament;
– Roberta, a tour guide from Virginia, doesn’t worry about waking up the President while she works at the U.S. Capitol building; and
– Steven, a sports industry consultant from Georgia, whose wife got him into cosplay as a Roman centurion. Steven is a three-day champ with winnings of $64,200.

Reid started opening up daylight after getting DD2, but a miss on DD3 kept Steven with two-thirds of Reid. Going into FJ it was Reid with $23,000, Steven at $17,600 and Roberta with $3,000, so Steven could win with a miss by Reid without having to be correct himself.

DD1, $600 – THE WORLD OF MONEY – In an effort to diversify its portfolio, Canada sold most of this, becoming the only G7 member with less than 100 tons (Steven won $1,400 on a true DD.)

DD2, $1,200 – MOROCCO – 1963’s “Sand War” against this Eastern neighbor changed little geographically but did lead to lingering tension (Reid won $2,600)

DD3, $2,000 – CLOTHING – Among the Ndebele of South Africa, a Jocolo is an apron worn starting with this occasion (Reid lost $4,000)

FJ – FICTIONAL CHARACTERS – In a 1947 collection he solved 12 mysteries, including “The Cretan Bull” & “The Girdle of Hyppolita”

Steven was the only player to pick up on what the clue was getting at, adding $6,500 to win with $24,100, although he would have won even if he had missed. Steven now has a four-day total of $88,300.

Triple Stumpers of the day: The players couldn’t come up with the exact title of NBC’s competition for stand-ups, “Last Comic Standing”, or the “Y’ word from “Gulliver’s Travels” for a brute, “Yahoo”.

This day in Trebekistan: Not sure I’ve ever heard a game show host, upon receiving applause when introduced, refer to the audience as being “well-coached”.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – What is gold?
DD2 – What is Algeria?
DD3 – What is marriage?
FJ – Who is Poirot?
