Taking a slight detour in the open thread spotlight of comic book characters and 1980s television, we get a palate cleansing tonight with 1986’s Night of the Creeps.

Written and directed by Fred Dekker, this cult classic sci-fi/ horror movie stars Jason Lively, Steve Marshall, Jill Whitlow, and Tom Atkins.

When alien parasites are unwittingly unleashed on a small college town, two nerdy best friends, a beauty queen sorority sister, and a grizzled cop must stop the invasion before its too late.

During the filming of Night of the Creeps, Fred Dekker got the green light to film his next movie, 1987’s the Monster Squad.

If you haven’t seen this film, I recommend a double feature of Night of the Creeps with Monster Squad or the 1988 remake of The Blob.
