Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Mar. 22 – Today’s contestants are:
– Dave, a chemical engineer from California, worked as a busboy in his dad’s Italian restaurant;
– Jeff, a marketing executive from California, produced a Shatner toy that went into space; and
– Jonathan, a senior finance manager from Colorado, played championship Ultimate Frisbee. Jonathan is a two-day champ with winnings of $48,802.
Jeff found DD3 with a $3,600 lead and just one more $2,000 clue remaining, so he should have had first place wrapped up going into FJ. But he made a Clavin-ish bet of $3,000 and missed, which allowed Jonathan to jump from third to a tie for first at $9,800 on that last clue, with Dave a close third at $9,200.
DD1 $800 – THE BELLS ARE RINGING – Macbeth rhymes “The bell invites me. Hear it not, Duncan, for it is a “this” that summons thee to heaven, or to hell” (Jonathan lost$1,000)
DD2, $1,600 – HISTORICAL FICTION – A blind French girl & a young German soldier’s paths collide during World War II in this recent Pulitzer Prize winner (Jeff lost $4,000)
DD3, $1,600 – STUFF ON STAMPS – A set of stamps features posters designed by Depression-era artists for this New Deal agency (Jeff lost $3,000, but should have wagered less than $1,600 to ensure the lead going into FJ.)
FJ – HOLIDAYS & OBSERVANCES – This day created in the U.S. In 1872 is observed in Florida & Louisiana in January, but Maine & Alaska hold it in May
Surprisingly, everyone missed FJ, and when the two leaders bet everything to guard against each other, Dave picked up the win. Dave wagered half of his total, ending with $4,600.
Triple Stumpers of the day: The players couldn’t provide the second word in the dance called the Highland Fling and blanked on the bile-producing body part, the liver.

DD2 – What is “All the Light We Cannot See”?
