Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Mar. 8

Jeopardy! recap for Fri., Mar. 8 – Here are today’s contestants:

– Conor, a graduate student from New Jersey, did his thesis on old-timey baseball;
– Josh, a journalist from California, visited China ten times but has avoided the Great Wall; and
– Dana, an educator from California, recently was a mature flower girl. Dana is a three-day champ with winnings of $64,002.

Dana passed on the opportunity to take the lead on DD3, but still finished very strongly in DJ to show the way into FJ with $17,600 vs. $13,200 for Josh and $9,200 for Conor.

DD1, $400 – SHAKESPEARE – This man says, “I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him”, but he’s not being quite truthful (Josh lost $1,000)

DD2, $800 – GEOGRAPH”EE”- It was the northernmost part of ancient Palestine (Josh won $1,600)

DD3, $2,000 – PLANT-ED EVIDENCE – Ancient Egyptians got a lot out of this water plant: cloth, mats, sails and oh yeah, material on which to write (Dana won $1,800 – she had $5,800 to wager while traling by $3,400, so this was an all-in situation. If she had bet it all, it would have forced Josh and Conor to be correct to have a chance to pass her on FJ.)

FJ – 20TH CENTURY NEWSMAKERS – In 1982 a probate judge in his home state of Michigan declared him legally dead

Only Conor was correct on FJ, but thanks to him smartly playing for the Triple Stumper, he would have won even if he missed. Conor added $400 to win with $9,600.

Pop culture problems: No one knew the 2011 ten-week no. 1 single “We Found Love” is by Rihanna, or the legendary Spanish-language TV show “Giant Saturday” that ran for many decades, “Sábado Gigante”.

It can’t be that obvious dept.: The contestants didn’t guess the Shakespeare play written in order after “Henry VI, Part 2” was “Henry VI, Part 3”.

Correct Qs:
DD1 – Who is Antony?
DD2 – What is Galilee?
DD3 – What is papyrus?
FJ – Who was Jimmy Hoffa?
