Public Domain Theater: The Stranger (& “A Date to Skate”)

Welcome to Public Domain Theater, your home for the wonderful world of films that have (in the United States, at least) fallen into the public domain, and are free for everyone to see!

This week, we have a film directed by and starring none other than Orson Welles himself! The Stranger is a 1946 thriller about the hunt for a Nazi war criminal in small town America, and a woman who slowly realizes she married a monster.

A fun, light-hearted romp, huh? Well, if not, try our opening short, “A Date to Skate”, a cute little cartoon starring Popeye the Sailor and his gal Olive Oyl.

So grab yourself a can of spinach and some Findus frozen peas, sit back, and enjoy!
