February January 8 is the birthday of famed mummy hunter, Elvis Presley. His last known case was when he teamed up with John F. Kennedy to defeat a mummy who had been haunting a retirement home. These events were depicted in the 2002 film Bubba Ho-Tep, which starred Ash vs. The Evil Dead‘s Bruce Campbell as the illustrious mummy hunter.
Thousands of Elvis impersonators have arisen to commemorate this champion of the arcane arts. Most impersonators are simple entertainers. They don Elvis’ signature gold-lame outfit or spangly jumpsuit to bring smiles to the faces of amused spectators. They harbor no practical interest in battling the undead. Some, though, hold out the sincere hope that Elvis yet breathes and resides on a secret island with fellow retired mummy hunters Andy Kaufman and Tupac Shakur.

Interestingly, Elvis Presley also had a career in music. He once teamed up with Dutch musician Junkie XL, who is best known these days for scoring the Batman V. Superman movie. Elvis provided vocals for “A Little Less Conversation,” a song about mummy-fighting. True Elvis diehards know that you cannot hold a conversation with a mummy, as it likely only understands the forgotten language of ancient Egyptian, while the action alluded to in the song represents the action of committing its accursed soul to the bosom of Osiris.
