Created by Lawrence Argent, the Big Blue Bear (real name: I See What You Mean) is an icon of Downtown Denver. Peeking into the windows of the Colorado Convention Center, the fiberglass and steel statue is forty feet tall. Argent came up with the idea after seeing a picture of a black bear peeking into the windows of someone’s house.
Argent passed away in 2017. Other public works of his include a 92-ft statue of the Venus de Milo in San Francisco and a 49-ft fiberglass panda in Chengdu.
