Happy Tuesday, folks!

Following a conversation at an art night with friends a couple of weeks ago, I decided to try doing a little more digital illustration, this time from scratch. I’ve been scanning ink pictures and coloring them for years, but I’ve never really done much with drawing on the computer itself.

…Apart from a brief period in the winter of 2006-07 when I tooled around on Microsoft Paint.

So I did a few pictures this weekend; mainly watercolor on Paint 3D. I’d been a little sad to see Paint’s phaseout a year or so back, but got used to 3D pretty quick, and now I wonder why I ever worried. The header image was done in Paint 3D watercolor, entitled Hesperide Storm. In related downtime, started paneling some more pages for getting back into the webcomic. Not just the one that’s been on hiatus for over a year, but also the next potential story idea, which has been in fitful germination now for two years. Colored a few pages of the latter and decided to try the former as well. Not sure I should introduce color when the story’s (theoretically) at such a late stage, but it was a nice thought (and I think all the painting’s definitely helped me gain a better understanding of color).

So, though it doesn’t feel like I’ve got a lot to show for the past week, I think it’s been helpful.
