Music Discussion Dec. 20, 2018: Critters

Let’s discuss any and all music here. You’ve got a new artist who’s rocking your boat that you want to talk about? Post a video! Found out about that unearthed Coltrane album that has the jazz freak in you losing your mind? Lay it out for us! Do you have a theory about what your favorite band might do for their next album? Let’s hear it! Anything and everything music-related goes here, but do please remember to also pay attention to the more niche threads; if your post would either fit better or equally well in one of them, please post it there as well. I absolutely do not want to steal traffic from those threads.

This week’s prompt: Critters

What are some of you favorite musical works about animals? Or even by animals.1 Pro or con, pet or farm, feral or familiar. Share some of your fave animal related songs and symphonies.

My favorite is Wall Of Voodoo’s2 Animal Day. A dark tale from Stan about our human karmic comeuppance as we humans become animals and get a taste of some of our more careless stewardship of our furry friends.

The Well, it’s new to me department.

This week’s discovery comes from a recommendation a few weeks ago from either Dik, Exex, Sigil, or maybe even Joey, I can’t remember or find it. It’s Beanpole. A side project from members of Primus and The Spent Poets that has been languishing unreleased until recently given life by Sean Lennon. The album, All My Kin, is weird and wonderful. Like a circus from the darkest Appalachian forest run by The Residents would sound. It’s great!

Have a wonderful December holiday, whichever one you celebrate. And as always, rock out with yr guac out.
