Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Nov. 28 – Please welcome today’s contestants:
– Adriana, a data scientist from California, who has a cookbook club to which Alex has an open invite;
– Andrew, a law clerk from Illinois, had a non-speaking part in a Chinese movie; and
– Dylan, a pediatric dentist from North Carolina, who despite his challenging career, has all of his fingers.. Dylan is a two-day champ with winnings of $25,578.
Adriana opened a big lead in round one, which was largely eliminated when Andrew ran a vocabulary category to open DJ. But Andrew couldn’t get past Adriana, who led into FJ with $20,800 vs. $15,200 for Andrew and -$800 for Dylan, who earned the coveted “Boo hiss” from Alex.
DD1 – THAT’S SOME GIFT! – After President Nixon went to China in 1972, China gifted the U.S. with two giant these (Adriana won $3,000)
DD2 (video) – THE HILLS ARE ALIVE – Leontopodium alpinum, this flower, blooms as the song says, “small and white, clear and bright” (Adriana won $3,000)
DD3 – INVENTORS & INVENTIONS – In 1858 this man invented an eponymous glass jar with a screw-on lid (Adriana won $3,000)
FJ – HISTORICAL FIRSTS – In a tribute with no precedent, the band played this at the Buckingham Palace changing of the guard on September 13, 2001
Alex demanded an easy FJ and he got one, as both players were correct. Adriana added $9,601 to win with $30,401.
Musical miscues: Sadly, no one knew the soul man who performed “What’s Going On” is Marvin Gaye, or the 1971 private eye movie with the the Oscar-winning theme featuring a wah-wah pedal is “Shaft”.
No harm no foul: For a clue about an activity that takes place on a river, Adriana and Andrew strangely couldn’t separate “rapids” from “rafting”.
DD1 – What are pandas?
DD2 – What is edelweiss?
DD3 – Who was Mason?
FJ – What is “The Star-Spangled Banner”?
