Anyone who wishes to enter Colorado through Denver International Airport must pass the red laser eyes of Blucifer, the fiber-glass horse statue that guards the airport.
Blue Mustang was the work of Luis Jiménez. He died in 2006 when a piece of the statue fell on him at his studio, severing an artery in his leg. His family and staff completed the statue, and it was unveiled at DIA in 2008.
Some people find the statue creepy and unnerving. Starting in 2013, they could petition the City of Denver to have it removed.
Blucifer has emerged victorious. It remains on Peña Boulevard, keeping its demonic watch over DIA. Long may it reign.
