Jeopardy! recap for Wed., Nov. 21 – Regular play resumed with these contestants:
– Abby, a lawyer from Massachusetts, whose 4-year-old does a Jeopardy! dance behind closed drapes;
– Casey, a senior data engineer from New York, impersonated an EMT to break a friend from the hospital; and
– Mary Ann, a marketing coordinator from California, likes civilized “cozy mysteries”. Mary Ann is a two-day champ with winnings of $53,400.
Mary Ann extended her lead in the first part of DJ, then Casey rallied nicely to make a game of it, wagering for first place on DD3, the last clue of the round. When Casey missed, it became a runaway for Mary Ann at $19,400 vs. $5,600 for Casey and $800 for Abby.
DD1 – SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY – The SBA encourages banks to make these, of $50,000 or less; they can help a business more than a “tiny” bit (Casey lost $1,200)
DD2 – 5 SAINT’S DAYS – April 23 is the feast of this saint feared by dragons everywhere (Mary Ann won $3,000)
DD3 – U.S. LAKES & RIVERS – This largest Louisiana lake was named for a French count (Casey lost $7,000 – a correct response would have given him a $200 lead going into FJ and a likely win of nearly $40,000)
FJ – PRESIDENTIAL IRONY – 1 of the 2 Presidents who offered Daniel Webster the VP slot; he declined both, thinking the job went nowhere
Only Casey was able to come up with one of the two responses, as Mary Ann dropped $5,000 to win with $14,400 for a three-day total of $67,800.
Missing the layup: For a clue about an “American Idol” winner and country star, after Mary Ann was incorrect with Kelly Clarkson, her opponents couldn’t come up with Carrie Underwood.
This day in Trebekistan: After a correct response, Mary Ann was anxious to keep the game moving and was in no mood to hear any more of Alex’s impression of Forrest Gump.
Correct Qs:
DD1 – What are microloans?
DD2 – Who was St. George?
DD3 – What is Lake Pontchartrain?
FJ – Who were Taylor and Harrison? (Casey wrote Taylor.)
