Jeopardy! recap for Wed. Sept. 26 – Please welcome today’s contestants:
– Jordan, an associate professor of computer science from Maryland, is raising his child to be tri-lingual, including Chinese and German;
– Evelyn, a family physician from Ontario, is a huge fan of both “Seinfeld” and Seinfeld; and
– Nancy, a retired high school teacher from Texas, likes the “deep” James Joyce. Nancy is a two-day champ with winnings of $35,000.
Jordan opened up a lead with correct responses to both DDs in DJ, but Evelyn cleaned up late in a music category to show the way into FJ with $17,800 vs. $13,800 for Jordan and $8,200 for Nancy.
DD1 (video) – THE GREAT BRITISH COIN HUNT – Finishing up the collection is zed, for this type of place where pedestrians can walk safely across the road (Evelyn lost $1,000)
DD2 (video) – GETTING COORDINATED – (Shown is a U.S. map with stars in the states of Oregon and Minnesota) These two state capitals, 1,450 miles apart, are both just shy of 45 degrees north latitude (Jordan won $2,600 on a true DD.)
DD3 – PARDONER – Ronald Reagan pardoned this owner for illegal campaign contributions in 1989 – the Gipper was a Yankees fan? (Jordan won $3,000)
FJ – AUTHORS – After this woman’s death, her daughter wrote, “As far as we in the family are concerned, the alphabet now ends at y”
Everyone was correct on FJ with Evelyn picking up $9,801 to win with $27,601.
No harm no foul: Everyone took an incorrect guess on the California city with an aquarium equipped with a “sea otter cam”, Monterey.
We’ve got better things to do with our lives dept.: The “Video Games” category was a massive flop, as the players missed four out of five clues, and the one they did get required no actual video game knowledge.
This day in Trebekistan: Alex likes to bond with other Canadians over the letter “zed”.
DD1 – What is zebra?
DD2 – What are St. Paul and Salem?
DD3 – Who was Steinbrenner?
FJ – Who was Sue Grafton?
