Round 1, Part 2 Notable Results
- Victor Sage had no issue defeating Rorschach in their amusing match up, 44-29. The other Question, Renee Montoya, held off Jubilee 41-33.
- Iron Man looked in trouble against Star Fire, but pulled ahead 41-34- in general in Round 1, Popular MCU figures were the ones who got the last hours of voting push when in close battles.
- Booster Gold narrowly defeated Mr. Fantastic 40-38, while Kate Bishop pulled of a 38-29 upset against the The Human Torch- so a bad day for the Fantastic Four.
- Deadpool edged out Black Canary 41-35.
- In a close match of young female heroes, Gwen Stacy upset Laura Kinney 35-32
- In the biggest upset of the second half of Round 1, the Scarlet Witch won 37-35 over Carol Danvers.
- Bucky Barnes avoided biting the dust by a single vote, 38-37 over Tim Drake.
- Results in Round 1 continued to suggest a Marvel preference at the Avocado, with 42 of the remaining characters being from the Marvel Brand. DC has been cut down to 18 characters. Hellboy, Elastigirl, the Tick, and Space Ghost are the remaining characters who don’t directly belong to either. (My understanding of Space Ghost’s situation is DC Comics can use him but he doesn’t “belong” to DC?).
- It is now 42 Male characters to 22 female characters, so the approximate 2:1 ratio stayed the same from last round to this one.
The characters who received the most votes last round while failing to advance were Buffy Summers (41), Frozone (40), Mr. Fantastic (38), and Hal Jordan / Green Lantern (38).
You can check everything that happened in the first round here. We now move on to the Knockout Round of 64. All 32 match-ups will posted below, and a ll typical Avocado Tournament Rules apply. You will have about a day to vote before matchups are closed. I intend for the next round to be up tomorrow.
