Bootleg Corner Now Faces West

Hey Avocadonites, Kevzero here, welcome to Bootleg Corner. A post dedicated to the semi-authorized records. Throughout the years I’ve amassed a rather large collection of bootleg CDs, vinyl, downloads, even the occasional cassette; from live recordings to outtake sessions. So I’ve decided to create a space here to occasionally review some them  for you, and a place for other fans of Recordings Of Indiscriminate oRigin(RIORs) to gather together.

Overview:

REM come to Orlando in a concert that was broadcast over the radio. The concert set list was a mixture of older song and newer songs.

Performance: A-

The band deliver a really great, rocking performance here. It nicely captures REM as they make the transition from underground indie darlings to mainstream stars

Recording: B+

A  radio recording from the source not, as sometime is the case with these types of bootlegs, off the radio

Highlights:

The whole concert is really good, but I think  “You Are The Everything” and “Stand”(which is probably my favorite REM song) come off best here.

Lowlights:

Nothing really, I question the order of the set list, but I do that quite often with concerts. “Get Up” isn’t a bad song per say, but not a great song to end on. I haven’t really looked into it, but I think there’s more to the concert than on the record.

Recommended?: Yes, this is a great REM concert and a great place for new  fans to start with their earlier concerts and a great addition to  an  older fan’s collection

This week optional discussion: Have you come across any good bootlegs recently?
