Sports Corner – June 20

Tomorrow is the NBA Draft, and certainly some teams will improve by night’s end.  But the big NBA story at the moment is the request by Kawhi Leonard for a trade out of San Antonio.  Will such a trade happen before or during the draft, allowing the Spurs to fill the void left by Kawhi immediately, even as the quiet (and possibly still damaged) superstar goes to LA or Boston or wherever?  Will Pops talk him in to staying after all? Or will the suspense about Kawhi just be folded into what promises to be another gripping NBA off-season?

Elsewhere…

  • Brooks Koepka wins his second US Open in a row.  Does the PGA have a new star?  And what the heck was up with Mickelson?
  • Barry Trotz leaves the Caps.  Next stop, the Islanders?
  • Mike Trout keeps getting better, but the Angels can’t do much to help him.
  • Juan Soto, called up to the Nats on May 20, is now credited with hitting a home run on May 15. I love arcane rules of baseball.

All this, and also the World Cup – don’t forget the daily Avocado threads from Kajigger on the tournament, but feel free to discuss the beautiful game and any other sports you might like.
