The header image gives it away for me, pie always takes the cake in my book. I do love cake as well, but something about a well done pie is so sublime, the different textures with the crust against the filling, a bit of savory saltiness in the crust to offset a sweet filling, and whipped cream or ice cream to top it all off.
Now that doesn’t mean I turn my nose up at cake, I really love a tasty cake with a nice crumb and smooth as silk buttercream frosting too. And I know you can make a cake with nuts to add the saltiness if you so desire.
Both have a place on my plate, but at the end of the day I really can’t resist a good pie.
