Weekly Japanese Pop Culture Thread (March 21st, 2018)

ジェニーハイ (Genie High) is a J-rock supergroup composed of members from Wild Bomb, Tricot, Gesu no Kiwami Otome, and indigo La End. Their debut single,「片目で異常に恋してる」, which Google Translate tells me means “I Fall in Love Abnormally with One Eye,” was released last week. I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean, but in fairness, neither do you (probably).

Based on the pedigree of the people involved, I’d say this is a group to watch out for.

In other Japanese music news, the latest album from legendary DJ and house musician Mondo Grosso (real name: Shinichi Osawa), Attune / Detune, dropped today. Here’s the lead single, 「偽りのシンパシー」(“False Sympathy”), featuring Aina the End from Japanese rock idol group BiSH as vocalist:
