Welcome to the Book Nook! This is the weekly thread for Avocados to discuss books we’re currently reading, recommendations, genre, and serious literary criticism.
This week’s recommended discussion: When I read Ben H. Winters’ Last Policeman trilogy (I said I’d find ways to talk about it), I checked out other things he’s written. One book was Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. I never read any of those mashups when they came out. Even though Donna Bowman gave this one a glowing review, and even though Winters won my undying love, I don’t think I can read something so identifiable with a fad. What books do you consider so much of their time that they can’t be separated from it?
One caveat: because we’re here to use our words, this is a NO GIF/YouTube/social media embed zone (the OTs are full of clutter, and I want to keep that out of this thread).
